Army attempt to take over Kilinochchi private land thwarted..!

SL Army attempt to officially take over a 25-acre private land in Kilinochchi which it had been occupying for 16 years has been thwarted.

The owners, numbering 23 families, and politicians gathered in front of the electrical and mechanised engineering corps camp and prevented a planned surveying of the land on 02 April under provisions of the land acquisition act.

Presenting deeds for the land, they staged a peaceful protest demanding their right to live in their land.

Upon their demand, the district secretary informed the Survey Department office in Kilinochchi in writing, and no team was sent to survey the land.

ITAK MP Sivagnanam Sridaran told journalists on the occasion that a struggle to get the land released to the owners would continue.

TNPF secretary Selvaraja Gajendran too, attended the protest organized by chairman of Pachchaipallai Pradeshiya Sabha Subramaniam Suren.
